FUN WITH EGGS !!!


Welcome back Food People. It's time for another EXCITING and INFORMATIONAL episode of  "KILL IT CUT IT UP AND COOK IT."

So the weekend is here. The boss left yesterday for a short "Girls Cruise" and left me at home to play.



 So I got to thinking. Sheldon had "FUN WITH FLAGS", 



Elvis had  "FUN IN ACAPULCO"



But let's be serious....What do guys do when the wife goes out of town. Maybe for business, maybe for pleasure, or maybe just to get away from us.

It's cool, we get to watch sports, and drink beer..... But what about food ??????

NO, WE DO NOT GO OUT TO EAT !!!!!

We cook. Period. But what if you aren't the greatest cook in the world?

Well, my friends, that's what I am here for.

Every guy should be able to make a basic meal.  (One of my mother's "Pearls Of Wisdom".)

So let's learn how to have FUN WITH EGGS !!!!!



HARD BOILED EGGS

Hard boiled eggs are not difficult, but they can drive you nuts. But I have found the BEST way to make a perfect Hard Boiled Egg.

First, we use Eggs that are at least a week old. Store them in the cold box ON THEIR SIDE.



 Not upright in the container they come in. Storing them on their side helps the yolk stay in the center of the shell. (That helps when you are making deviled eggs)

Bring out the eggs and let them come up to room temperature. They will have a tendency to burst if they are cold when you place them into the boiling water.

Bring a covered pot of water to a boil.



Slowly ease the eggs down into the water.


Cover and cook for 13 minutes.
Make sure you use your handy dandy timer machine

While they cook, get a big pan of ICE WATER ready.


After 13 minutes, remove from the stove and place in the Ice WATER.



Let them sit in the water for 5 minutes.

If any have burst, set them aside. I always burst at least one.


You can eat it later....



Remove the other eggs and place them into a bowl lined with paper towels.


HINT: If you have a few older Hard Boiled  Eggs already in the 
fridge, you should mark them, and use those FIRST.



That's all there is to it..... Simple and easy. And you can do SO MUCH with them when they cool.

Let's start with EGG SALAD

EGG SALAD




Peel the eggs (Start with 6)  Rinse and put in a bowl.
Cut up the eggs with a cookie cutter



Add ½ Cup of Mayo a bit at a time and STIR CAREFULLY


Salt and Pepper to taste


Add some Pickle Relish to taste !!!


If your mixture is too watery, just cut up some more eggs

You can also add some sweetener if needed

Wasn't that EASY ?

Now let's make a samwitch


or on bread



DEVILED EGGS

Hard boil 12 eggs

Peel and cut them in half. Then  place the yokes in a bowl



Mash em up


Add 1 tsp Dried Mustard

½ Cup of Mayo

1 TBL Pickle Juice



Taste and adjust as needed...

Spoon the yoke mixture into shells.. You can also put the mixture into a plastic bag. Cut off a corner and "squeeze" it into the shells. But I'm too lazy for that step.


For this round we had some pickled eggs left over and used them. If you don't like the "color" just use regular Hard Boiled Eggs


You can use Salt & Pepper or Paprika or Grand Diamond Seasoning on top

This is another great snack if you are low carbing.

PICKLED EGGS

I grew up eating these. They were always in the cold box at our house. They make for a great snack. And they are LOW CARB.

1 DOZ HARD BOILED EGGS(see lesson above---don't forget to PEEL them)

16 OZ PICKLED BEETS
1 CUP WHITE VINEGAR
1 TBL PICKLING SPICE

Pour beets into large jar
Add spices, and vinegar

Put the eggs in


done




 This is all you need .....And the Eggs !!!!
 Beets are in the jar !!! Now add the Spices and Vinegar.

The longer they "pickle" the deeper the purple

Goes GREAT on a salad



SCRAMBLED EGGS

This is my FAVORITE way to eat eggs in the morning. There are many ways to make them, but for today's lesson, we are going to do a simple Scrambled Egg.

In a non stick skillet, fry up some bacon




Crack three eggs into a bowl



When the bacon is done, add the eggs



With a fork, scramble them up. Then use a flipper tool to turn them over and over.



You'll know when they are done.

Don't forget the salt & pepper.

FRIED EGGS 

Lastly we have the "Fried Egg." Left for last because I am NOT a fan, but I'll make that sacrifice just for you.
 
First, in a non stick skillet, add some bacon and cook over medium heat.


While the bacon cooks, crack two eggs into a bowl.



Flip the bacon over  


When the bacon is done, place it on a plate lined with paper towels. 

The pour the bacon grease in to a bowl to keep in the fridge. (You should ALWAYS have bacon fat on hand)



Now slowly pour the eggs into the pan.



Add some salt & pepper



Now, you can serve them (Sunny Side UP) or flip them over


That's the only way I'll got near a fried egg


May not have been  the prettiest eggs in the land, but they we good.


So there you have it. Some FUN WITH EGGS

It was quick and simple. And you wanted to go OUT ...... Shame on you.
